Happy New Year for 2010 from all at London Breaks. This year is going to be the best ever for London visitors, as we begin the ramp up to the 2012 Olympics. There’s also a possibility of a London Festival starting up as a regular event in the summer. There’s never a better time for a London break than just after the Christmas holidays. The week in between Christmas and New Year is one of the busiest weeks of the year in London theatreland, and then January continues in pretty much the same vein. This year, 2010 there is such a good selection of shows on offer I defy anybody not to be able to put together a pretty exciting London break package. There are family shows, musicals, plays, comedy, opera, ballet, rock concerts, and more.

La Cage aux Folles, London La Cage aux Folles is not just another musical with drag queens it actually stated out as a play. Then it became a film and now a West End musical which starred Graham Norton. Now John Barrowman and Simon Burke lead the cast in a return of the surprise success story of the summer, from November 30th 2009 to January 2nd 2010. The story of Georges and Albin is both touching and ultimately uplifting. Albin the dazzling drag artiste is the star of the La Cage aux Folles club, but the night life is threatened when Georges’ son announces his engagement to the daughter of a right-wing politician, who wants to close it down. Drastic action needs to be taken! So it’s a feel good musical with a great story, and incredible dance performances from the whole cast. All in all La Cage Aux Folles could make an interesting complement to the larger scale show which is also getting a lot of attention this summer – Priscilla Queen of The Desert.
